It's vital that the chimney or flue you have is suitable for the type of gas fire you are looking to have installed so when choosing a gas fire you should keep this in mind.
I don't have a Chimney or Flue
Without a chimney or flue you can still have a gas fire. You have a couple of options;
Flueless Gas Fire
You can have a flueless gas fire installed. These convert the poisonous gases into harmless ones but are probably not going to be powerful enough to heat a room so should only be used as a centre piece.
Powerflue Gas Fire
There are also powerflue gas fires which can be installed on an external wall that will propel the gases, using a fan, through the wall to the outside.
